I hiked up Bird Ridge late October and caught a fantastic sunset over the turnagain arm. If you use Google Earth, this is where these pictures were taken.

These were taken at sunset out somewhere near Willow on the parks highway at sunset on a clear evening in early November. The Alpenglow made the white snow pinkish-purple.. gorgeous!
been a while..

well im back and i know i havent updated in about 3 months and its not because you are not important to me, but its because i have been having such a damn good time up here in denali this summer.. is it really worth it to stop having a good time just so i can sit in front of my computer and put all my pictures up on the internet?? well maybe yes maybe no but the important thing is that im doing well and i hope you are having as much fun in your own little slice of life as I am..
Anyways this summer i have done some cool stuff.. Seward, Homer, Girdwood, Fbanks, Kenai, Anchorage (over and over).. and this weekend.. Anderson! hot damn what a good time. hopefully eventually i will take some time and put those pics up here but for right now i just need to keep a promise that was made.

In case you are wondering about the outcome with my little brother, the judge saw thru the families bullshit fingerpointing witchhunt and gave Joey the minimums straight down the line. *applause* if he participates in an optional inmate education program he could be out within 1 year.

i've been updating myspace.com/ryl0 also, so check it out.. well im gearing up for another summer in denali. lots of working but some other cool stuff too. i leave tomorrow morning for coachella festival which should be "OK" if you like good music ;)
so im a little excited about that.. been enjoying denali also! hiked mt healy overlook for the first time this year and for my first time ever in the snow. Definitely different but still gorgeous and always a great time in the park.
this is the one of the bridges on the path completely overtaken by ice.
Last week my friend Kate took me for a walk around her cabin at McKinley Village and we caught a marvelous sunset. Good Stuff!
of course Im excited to see my friends as they arrive back in denali too.

My little brother Joey accepted a plea bargain and goes into custody tomorrow for 2-3.5 years.
I called him and said goodbye and told him to not let this ruin what a terrific person he is. He is a strong person and a good person. He told me he is ready for this. Then I told him I love him and I will hopefully see him in 2 years.
To the parents of the victim:
I know I don't know the beginning of your suffering at the loss of your daughter. I know a parent burying a child is one of the worst things a person can endure. I am sure you remember your daughter as your little Angel but the fact is she wasn't.
She threw a party and drank and had fun and served A Lot of Drinks then she begged my brother to take her for a motorcycle ride after she served him drinks all night at her party. There was accident. She was killed and he wasn't.
He was drunk but she was definitely not an innocent bystander which you seem to have overlooked.
My brother is definitely not "a murderer". He's never been in any trouble before. He has no criminal record. He played highschool basketball and taught basketball to little kids. He joined the Air Guard and put himself through college (he graduated 4 months ago).
He is definitely not the ticking time bomb that you are portraying him as in your sentencing request, and posting signs on the streets encouraging people to write the judge about the outrage of his pleabargain agreement..
He fucked up and has accepted responsibility for his actions. He is prepared to do the time to repay his debt but he definitely doesn't deserve to go to jail for 15 years so stfu and deal with it.
(unfortunately he cant say that when he addresses you at the sentencing tomorrow).

I've been back in Denali now for about 2 weeks full time and i havent been updating my website very much but i use myspace and i maintain a blog there which have been updated more frequently so check it out.. myspace.com/ryl0
I intend to resume regular updates here very soon though..
i hope you are well and happy and well. I am doing awesome up here. its f'ing cold and it snows every other day and there's ice everywhere but i still love it here.
I can't wait for my friends to start trickling back!

I made the trip up to Denali this weekend for winterfest and had a blast. Denali is nothing short of absolutely incredible in the winter. It's completely calm and serene.
180degrees from the summertime madness. Even in the dead of winter the park feels more like my home than Anchorage.
otherwise im studying, jiu jitsuing, exercising and doing my thing(s).

yeah, i know. big slacker. no updates since october. i've been busy too dig?
the world keeps turning! ive got to find time to study (see above link), sweat, downward dog, "happy birthday you steamy 30 y.o. pile", so on so forth..
I went to San Francisco last weekend and saw Mark Farina and J. Boogie on friday and DJ Dan on saturday night.. bumpin dancin workin sweatin grindin smilin wicked fun weekend in San Fran!
